Did you notice??

We've got a new name! Brett and I have been talking and have come to the conclusion that "Jones Portrait Studio" suits our business better than our old M Jones Photography. The change became official this morning when we registered the new domain www.JonesPortraitStudio.com You can still go to www.mjonesphoto.net, but you'll be prompted to click on the new link.
My new email is Melissa@jonesportraitstudio.com

Change is good!

old chaise is new again!

I had some time this past weekend to finish reupholstering this antique chaise. It used to be the lovely mauve you see here.
When I tore it apart I could see why it was sunk in one corner. Luckily it was just one of the supports for the springs needed to be rescrewed into the frame. Why luckily? Because my upholstery skills drop off pretty rapidly if you can't use a staple gun or a glue gun! Here's the final finished project in the camera room. Doesn't it look great?? I can't wait to try it out!

Thanks for reading this far and taking the time to look at my silly little chaise. If you know anyone who has a little girl or two (or have them yourself), I have pictured in my mind a little girl in a party dress perched on the side of this chaise. What do you think? Give me a call if you'd like to help me experiment with my new prop. Mention you saw my post and your session is free. If you have a friend who has never been in, they'll get the free session and you'll get a $50 studio credit. Don't make me get Sophia dressed up to be my model :)
Enjoy the beautiful weather!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Have a great Valentine's Day today. Just for fun I've posted a couple photos of me with my Valentine from our family session last fall. I love the kids' expressions in the group photo.

Stay warm with your sweetie today!

Niya and her Mom stopped in yesterday for an impromptu session of Niyah. We even braved the cold for a few minutes. A very few minutes, it was COLD!!!

Stay warm and have a great weekend! I plan on staying in the entire weekend and tearing into a re-upholstery project I have been putting off. I'll let you know how it goes!
